The criminal process essentially begins with your arrest. You can either be arrested at the scene of the alleged crime (called a “warrantless arrest”), or the police will issue an arrest warrant - which usually occurs when either the police or an investigator for the Collin County District Attorney’s Office can articulate probable cause that you committed a crime under Texas law. County warrants are issued for felony offenses and Class A and Class B misdemeanors - While municipal warrants and JP (Justice of the Peace) warrants are issued for traffic tickets and other class C misdemeanors.
With or without a warrant, the police must have probable cause that you committed a crime for an arrest to be valid. A reputable local criminal defense attorney like Andrew Peveto will be able to tell whether the arrest was valid after consulting with you and/or reviewing the evidence. The Law Offices of Andrew S. Peveto successfully challenges dozens of Collin County arrests - and can get the evidence against you thrown out if the arrest is invalid. We can also lift active Collin County warrants and provide a jail “walk-through” if necessary. You can check the Collin County Active Warrant List to see if there are any outstanding warrants against you.
Typically when someone is arrested, he or she is taken to the local city jail (i.e. Plano, Frisco, Allen) and then transported to the Collin County Jail in McKinney a few hours later. You can generally do one of three things to secure release from jail:
The attorney bond is the fastest option, and can usually secure your jail release BEFORE you are transferred to Collin County for processing. Attorney Andrew Peveto provides attorney writ bonds in Collin County, and can secure your release from Collin County jail in McKinney - as well as any other city jails in Collin County (ie. Plano, Frisco, Allen, Murphy, etc...). For your convenience, here are links to the Collin County Current Inmate List - as well as links to the Plano Jail, Frisco Jail, and Allen Jail. You will likely have to call these and any other city jails to check and see if your friend or loved one is being held there.
